Florida employer screwed over my friend’s husband

My friend's husband asked this past Friday not to be sent anywhere far away (he often travels for work) because my friend is due any day to have her baby and she's high risk. He is one of the most praised workers at his job, yet when at the end of the day today, they fired him, giving some bogus reason. Also, they conveniently didn't record his request for anything baby-related. I know Florida is an at-will state, but do they have a good chance of suing the crap out of them? Does anyone have any experience in a situation like this? My friend is (understandably) freaking out and I'm pissed on her behalf. They have other young children as well, so this really puts them in a bind.
