FMLA is a total scam

So you're meaning to tell me I have no job protection for the 1st year at a new job until I've worked the required 12 months first, and that's only for companies with 500+ employees? What if I have a medical condition that requires regular doctor visits or testing? What if my spouse or children need to be cared for for any medical condition? This is something people don't talk about now that the wave of “quit your job and find something better” is currently trending. Each time you start a new job that's another couple months you are without sick leave or vacation hours, another year to wait before you can get job protection, etc. I think I'm about to get fired from my job because my family is currently sick and I am home getting better. I've only been working here for 6 months so I don't have job protection. I have to quarantine and await my results but I don't think management is happy about this because I had just returned from some requested days off work.

What gives? We work hard and still could lose our jobs at any point.
