“Follow your passions” is terrible advice

Obviously you should do something you aren’t miserable doing, but trying to find a job based on what you’re passionate about is setting yourself up for failure. Don’t mix passions with work unless you want to ruin that passion. Also, not all passions translate to high paying jobs. Nor are they all realistic. I think better advice would be, “find something that you can tolerate, pays well, and isn’t totally unrealistic”
