I utterly despise wearing a suit and tie, they don't look cool to me, they look like the costume of the elites, who don't represent me. Wearing their clothes denies my freedom on a physical level, my identity is negated as a result of wearing their uniform which represents their values – capitalism, conservative, Anglo Saxon values etc. Did you know the quintessential Scottish kilt is actually an invention of the English monarchy? The kilt was not what is presented in popular culture. The monarchy took something that was cool and made it prissy, conservative and lame, like themselves. Suits are similar in that regard. I'm thinking of doing a teaching course in the UK, but the thought of wearing formal attire is not cool. I haven't worn formal clothes as part of a job since 2008 and when I was wearing shoes, slacks, shirt etc I felt like I was both imprisoned in clothing and wearing pyjamas, it was a daily humiliation on top of the work and schedule which I hated. Capitalism wants to dress you up like toy soldiers, working to produce stolen value isn't enough for the system, it has to own your body and soul.
