Former employer claims I owe their and my premiums after I quit

I gave my two weeks notice and worked to 3/31/22. On exit paperwork it explicitly states that insurance ends on last day of month(3/31/22) and when I asked manager confirmed I would not have insurance in April. Comptroller called me 4/15/22 and stated my last check would not cover my health insurance premiums for April and that they had already paid United healthcare and I need to pay them $900 for my part of the months premium and $1025 for their part of the premium for the month of April. My last paycheck of $580 would not cover this and I need to wire the difference to them immediately. This is in Texas, not sure if it is wage theft or if $580 is worth a lawyer fees and time to sue/file.
