I want to preface this by saying i’m very emotionally charged right now and probably not thinking with my most rational mind. However, Im so fucking tired of being battered by my managers every single shift as to why i can’t get a store credit card. I work for a large corporation that specializes in beauty, skincare, haircare, and perfume (take a wild guess ladies). Although these stores are structured so you think the associates are simply there to help in case any questions/concerns arise, that is not the case at all. This corporation is going to milk you for every drop you have. Don’t have an account with us? Let’s make one so you’ll be a part of our shitty rewards program so you can essentially use $100 of money you spent on a sample sized “reward.” Don’t have enough money to cover the disgustingly overpriced skincare products you’re purchasing? Apply for our store credit card and get 25% off your purchase (soft check on your credit included) so you have a reason to spend more money. We are constantly being verbally harassed by management for not getting at least 3 credit cards every day (i guess this multi billion dollar corporation isn’t making enough). I wanted this job so i can help people who share a similar passion for beauty and self care as i do, and instead i feel like a car salesman trying to get you to buy the most expensive products that i know deep down you don’t really need. Plus, we don’t even make commission, so i have even less motivation to make this shithole of a company more money. I’ve worked retail before but never have i seen such a gross display of corporate greed in my life.
