I just stopped by my local Walgreens to pick up four prescriptions, two of which I am in immediate need of a refill for and really won't enjoy accidentally detoxing from. Get there 20 before close just to find out that their already reduced hours have been further reduced, no notice whatsoever online. Poor girl at the desk said it was because they can't find staff to work. They've started to close completely on Sundays too (not opposed, but also not advertised) so guess I'll be there Monday at 8.
Why the FUCK do we deserve to just suck it up and go without because these corporations can't get their heads out of their asses and pay fairly? I know that pharmacists themselves typically get paid pretty decently, but you know they have a pile of student loans to pay off with what might otherwise be a comfortable living salary. Not to mention a pharmacy is staffed with more people than just pharmacists, but the average tech salary at a Walgreens nationally is less than $15 an hour before tax, and in Alabama as a whole it's $13 on average. I am so fucking tired of corporations getting to sit in their thrones high in the sky passing burden back and forth from employee to consumer and back, while they get to sit immune getting tax write offs. It's sickening.
