Long story short, I just graduated with a bachelor's degree and a double major. I have applied to quite a few places and usually get at least a first interview. I applied at Legacybox as a digitizing technician. I DID NOT sign up for what they tried to stick me in. Instead of working in the field that I have a lot of experience in, because they were “so short staffed” I was placed in the area of unboxing orders and inventory.
I didn't apply for that. I didn't sign up for it nor did I accept a position there in my two interviews, background check, or silly drug test I had to take. At no point in time did they say “Hey, we know you applied for a position you have experience in…..but we are going to put you in the worst and most mundane job possible here”. No. They just sprung it on the three of us after we showed up for the first day. I didn't apply for a “work your way up” position.
The worst part? It's a 8/10 hour job, always on your feet, with no chairs around to sit down unless you are on a lunch break (that everyone takes at the exact same time). However, you can clearly see a window above the work area with people in chairs, working sitting down, like the people on the floor should be.
I no-showed the second day and got an email about a separation notice due to “job abandonment”. Yeah, sure. Take your entry level garbage and shove it. Don't work here if you live in the area. It's not worth it and the pay is disgusting for what they expect.
