So my girlfriend and I have both completed a 3 year apprenticeship in one of the most luxurious hotels in Europe, so you could say we‘re pretty good with catering/service etc. During college I worked at restaurants/ bars and did caterings to get some cash. I now work in the financial service industry and have never looked back. My girlfriend is currently still studying and one of the people we worked for at her birthday party a while back, sent a text asking my gf if she‘d still do this because her birthday is coming up. I told my gf to ask for 25€/h and the response she got was „ oh that is quite high, not even out nanny who is a certified educator makes that much“ ( please mind that the apprenticeship to become an educator takes ~4 years to complete in Germany). Fuck that Lady for exploiting her nanny and fuck her for not appreciating what it actually costs to make a living. Besides, the fact that her nanny even has to work for her says enough…Educators/ child care workers are so underpaid here it‘s insane! My gf told her that she is also a certified hotel management expert and to work a birthday party alone for ~20 people plus 4-5 children providing top notch service has a price.
TLDR: fuck people that don‘t appreciate labour.
