This is a genuine question coming from a privileged white man, so I apologize for my ignorance. I genuinely want to know how people get stuck in jobs making only minimum wage? Especially as adults. I made minimum wage for a couple months in a seasonal job, which was my first job at 16, but never again after that. Even my current partner, who barely scraped by with a high school degree, got his first job at 20 making $11/hr and is now 22 making $18/hr at a call center. I've never met an adult making minimum wage or close to it yet many on this sub seem to be stuck in it.
From my obv biased, privileged point of view, I just don't understand how you can settle for that. Especially in this market, there's are thousands of jobs, in person or remote, that enable you to make well into the teens or above with little to no experience or education needed. I'd love to understand why people don't take these opportunities or get stuck in their situation.
Again, sorry for my ignorance, I genuinely want to understand.
