I'm in Europe , work for a well known supermarket retailer.
Ive been there for 5 years, started from scratch. Now I'm THE guy that everyone goes to for a lot of stuff. Im the one who runs my department and runs it great.
I've been telling them for the last 2 years, I am literally managing this department I need you to officially make me the manager, the usual “I understand we will get back to you” bs, and nothing was ever done.
About 2 months ago they had store wide staff appraisals, and they said we are gonna really listen to the staff about problems and pay rises. They said the staff they believe are good will definitely get raises.
It was a positive moment for staff as it was overdue and it maybe showed the higher up management and owners did actually want to listen.
Just got the news. 50 CENT rise in pay for some staff. My self was 1 euro. And our current pay is already low.
For everything we do running that shop for them, and with the cost of everything going up so much , this is what they decided was fair.
What the fuck ? I'm not letting this slide for myself. They have their 100k salaries and fancy BMW's but we want a little extra to not be constantly struggling all the time, and this is what we get ??
I had to argue on my behalf and really stand up for myself and what I do to convince them I need more to stay there long term. Lets hope they are smart enough to know their staffs worth or it's gonna backfire on them
