GETTING BLAMED FOR THINGS OUT OF YOUR CONTROL

I am seriously getting fed up with my job. I am a freight forwarder, coordinating the shipment of imports from China. The past couple of years have been a nightmare, with no end in sight. Right now we have been experiencing severe rail delays, with containers taking up to 2 months to move to rail. Even once loaded on a train it is taking a month or longer for the train to actually depart. There is literally nothing we can do about it. The situation is completely beyond my control. This is affecting different steamship lines, as well as the BNSF and UP rails. They blame lack of rail cars, lack of train power, and congestion at the port and final destinations.

I have customers threatening to drop us as they have had containers arrive more quickly through other freight forwarders. The problem is it is completely random which containers will be affected. Some get loaded right away while others sit in the stacks for weeks. But they blame me for it. No amount of pushing the steamship lines or the rails have any effect.

And to top it off, my boss pretty much passes the blame onto me. She actually told me this morning I have to change my mind set. Like that will change the facts. I have called and emailed the steamship lines numerous times over the past several months and always get the same answers, yet somehow I am not pushing them hard enough.
