Getting screwed out of $7k+ a year

I started a list of the ways I’m being taken advantage of by the small business I work for because I want to bring it up to my boss. I drive minimum 450 miles a month in my own car with no stipend, and turns out my state legally enforces mandatory reimbursement at the federal rate of 58.5 cents/mile. That’s just over $1k in 4 months… or almost $3500 a year. They got around it by paying me as an independent contractor, which is also completely illegal, and screws me out of the $3500 they would pay annually in taxes if I had a regular W2. 🤦‍️ I was hired under the assumption that I’d be working 40/week, but with how often I actually work it adds up to under $18/hour. I was making 23 before starting here. When I casually mentioned once that my laptop is 8+ years old…

When I casually mentioned once that my laptop is 8+ years old i was quickly notified that they could NOT afford to buy me a work laptop so I know this conversation won’t turn out in my favor. I like the actual work itself and this is a great career stepping stone but I can’t let myself get shafted this hard
