Background: I'm working from home, recently purchased property with nothing on it because it's all I could afford. I figured I would have a go at building my own shelter/home since the job I have does not pay me enough to buy a house or indoor plumbing.
I moved my trailer onto the property, and for 6 weeks I've been waking up early to go to work to use the restroom before anyone gets there, and go home to log in and work all day, and then go in after to use it again. 2x a day. No big deal, right?
My workplace knows they do no pay enough to afford housing, and I've mentioned many times on many occassions my plan to build so I can have a place to use my own bathroom, but it doesn't exist yet. I have shown them their own numbers, and demonstrably none of us new workers can afford to live on our own. They are WELL aware of the situation.
I filed a request to reduce my working hours from 40 to 32 so I can build my bathroom/home.
TODAY, my boss told me I'm “not allowed to be in the building on days I'm not scheduled to work in the office”. I already eat only once a day so I can afford such a regular sanitary schedule, and I am not disturbing any of the work and I am not missing any work getting done in the office because I'm there when NO ONE else is. I've already been using the bathroom at work 2x a day for WEEKS, and they KNOW my bathroom is not scheduled to be completed until the end of August, when we close our offices anyways and I lose the bathroom in either regard.
Now, a full six weeks ahead of schedule, I'm without a shitter.
I literally do not have a pot to piss in, and they took away the one last shred of dignity I have, which was not shitting in the woods like an animal. Then he told me co workers don't like me, that I complain too much, I'm too loud, and too political, when I get emails every day about being pro justice, anti racist, pro women, pro democracy. They have the fucking NERVE to spring this on me without notice, without warning, this impromptu meeting where I am made to feel bad for having dared TALK to my coworkers about how rough it is, and because I made THEM feel “uncomfortable” about how little they are paying me.
I cried. And then they had the GALL to ask me what they can do to help. I said they could let met use the fucking bathroom. I'll probably get an official written warning for cursing now.
I hate this timeline so much.
