I’m a person who likes to work their hands, so last fall I went to college for welding and I liked my class and the trade it’s enjoyable. However working in the field? LOL. I hope you don’t like your social life, or being healthy. I’m two months in and I’ve been having a tingly feeling and still fingers on my right hand, I’m breathing in so much aluminum dust it really freaks me out that I’m wearing my body down incredibly faster than I did at my regular job at a stupid deli, I only make 2.50$ more at this welding job than I did slinging deli meats. So how was college worth it if my profession doesn’t care about my physical health? I’m already thinking of quitting and getting another bad job. I’m also 25 miles away from this place and it’s been killing me with how expensive gas is. If anyone has any advice please feel free to share. I’m really stressing out
Edit: I also have very VERY strict shop. I’m not allowed to be a minute late, no water bubblers can only get water every few hours. No rigging to carry axles for the trailers. I can go on, I’m going into my shift rn but I’ll be back to reply to comments.
