“Going to work” is such an asinine thing **RANT**

So we talked a lot about how commuting to work is just stupid, when the job can be done from home. There is no reason to waste 1 or 2 hours a day (for those lucky not to live in New York, Toronto, etc.) just going somewhere you don't even want to go to in the first place, but have we talked enough about how just being there is the most awful feeling sometimes? Not just for doing 3 jobs for the true cost of 1/100 of one, but rather because being forced in a building with people you sometimes hate and that disturb you while you work all day is an incredibly awful feeling? It's even worse if you have trouble focusing, with ADHD or other mental health issues. Often, in close quarters, without the possibility of having your own office to have your bubble or your own space. We could have a whole conversation about how cubicles are stupid, even more so with low walls; it doesn't promote “work culture” or a sense of “family” (let me laugh out loud before I continue), but let's focus on being there, physically.

I could tell you my own personal worst times in this type of situation, but I'd rather stay on the wider topic: being at work and having to make small talk and tolerating other people that often don't respect you is the absolute worst. Whether it's your boss or other bossy/annoying coworkers, you just can't help but think this is the rest of your life (because you will spend an ungodly amount of time there, after all).

Some people can make the whole experience better, but those who ruin it make the whole thing asinine and frustrating, on a daily basis, while you could be at home relaxing, in less tight clothes, sipping on a coffee instead of chugging it between clumps of work.
