Got a wrong text from my boss about firing me. For context: I emailed them regarding them giving me tasks that fell under management roles & I’m a receptionist. They knew I was in school & would graduate in Novemberish & I have streamlined multiple tasks for them & they’ve had no complaints prior.

It’s a small business and I’d loved working for them so far so it was pretty out of left field when I got a text saying “if we fire her we can hire an actual fucking esthetician soon”. Currently only the owners are working at the store location I work at other than me, there is no phone or internet (so I can’t do half my job duties), and they haven’t hired any others for this location. She then apologized and said the other owner would discuss the email with me tomorrow and that a family member had passed and she’s in a negative headspace.
