I’m a team lead at an up and coming fulfillment company, I’ve been working there for a year and worked my butt off and eventually got promoted to a team lead for the pick team. 75% of the people at my job only speak Spanish so I was one of the only leads who are bilingual. This is important because I got transferred to a different team and no one even let me know until the day the change happened. The reason why I was transferred was because I’m “too young and not qualified”. Now I’m just sitting back and watching 5 different people do the job that I did (look for missing items, help pickers, help with inventory, translate). Pickers keep coming up to me for help and it hurts me to tell them “I’m sorry i’m not your lead anymore, I can’t help you.” because I know exactly how to help and solve their problems. It sucks but all I’m saying is that karma is real and employers need to stop with ageism.
