Hello! I was canned today after a brief internal review. The two incidents were related to me not calling 911 in a first aid situation (the staff member was fine after being taken to urgent care by their emergency contact who I called, but the admins wanted me to mitigate risk I guess), and the second was when a staff member reported something embarrassing to me, and I attempted to make them feel better with some jokes which were not taken well. I was officially terminated for “lack of judgement and reported behavior with subordinates.”
I have two questions:
- I have submitted my unemployment application and am working on getting the necessary “next steps” in place for the Texas Work Commission. Anything else I need to be aware of trying to apply for or do to help financially or otherwise?
- How do I spin my reason for being fired to make myself sound even remotely hirable in the future?
Anything is much appreciated as I am still kind of reeling over here.
