Been working at my organization for over 16 years. I got injured on the job over a month ago and have been out on workers comp for the first time in my life.
No one. Not my supervisor, or their supervisor, no one, has reached out to me to see if I'm ok. I supervise a work crew of 8 guys and we still exchange group text messages, but no one higher up in my organization cares that I will need surgery and will probably be out for months and may never totally recover.
Just remember that you are expendable.
