So last month I accepted a nice job offer from a very large company. After taking the drug test and doing the background check I get the all clear from HR and that I am good to go and am given a start day. The next day HR emails me withdrawing the offer due to the background check. The company refuses to tell me what the issue is and claim they can’t make a decision within 5 days.
My next move was to dispute the background check. However that did not work but during the dispute I received onboarding emails and filled out the information just in case. A few days later get a notification from the background check company I did not get the job and once again no explanation from HR.
Flash forward to today and I just received a paycheck from the company. I have no clue what to do. Do I alert them, give it back or just pretend nothing happened? This company really screwed me over so the money is nice. Any advice would be great.
