I knew I was going to be late to work by 10 or so mins (not a big deal, its fast food) so I attempted to call the store. Ring ring ring no answer, so I continued to get ready for my shift. Fast forward to me arriving, clocking in, and walking to the back when Im greeted by the shift manager telling me “We aren’t going to be working with you today” with a smug look on her face- to which I reply “ Why?” Her “Because you were late without calling” me” Not calling? I called before my scheduled shift per the handbook. Its not like I was calling out; Im here for my shift” Eventually I called the GM who is on my side because she knows how this particular manager is. After she knew she was caught she tried to gaslight me into saying I could stay. Laughable. All this is after I had to call out sick2 weeks ago, and her cutting my hours the next week from 40hr 4 10’s to 12hr two 6’s.
