A long rant here sorry.
A bit of background.
So I have some free slots in my schedule. I started my own business, its not extremely busy so I want to stay busy. I applied to be a part time driver at Pizza Hut last week on Tuesday. Spoke with the hiring manager in person as I dropped off the paper application and was told that my availability would work and they are willing to work with me and be flexible. Most everyone uses Pizza Hut as a second job anyway. All told to me by the general manager. Additionally she told me she’s desperate for any drivers.
I get asked to come in the next Monday at 2:00 P.M for orientation and onboarding. I arrive at 1:50 P.M for orientation, and onboarding I am told they are in the middle of a deep clean, can I wait a couple of minutes to have the general manager wash her hands. 30 minutes later she comes in from the front this time, smelling heavily of cigarette smoke, and sweating.
Where I live, its hot 100+ daily during summer. I am in disbelief I am here on time, ready for this, prepared, and you wasted my time to smoke outside? Then not even 2 minutes later she says, I was thrown in this position my regional manager is here let me get her. 5 minutes later this poorly dressed (by this I mean no identifiable logos or uniform of any sort) elderly lady says we are only looking for full time closers.
So I said thats fine. Took my paper application and began to leave. The regional manager said my application is company property and that I had to leave it. I turned to her and said my personal information is on there. I don’t trust you to dispose of it securely. If thats an issue thats too bad, your GM couldn’t be bothered to show up on time to finish the hiring process, wasted over 30 minutes of my time here for what? To be lied to? To have you attempt to bully me into what you need? No thanks.
Not even 10 minutes later the general manager called me, unsure how she had my number, and begs me to come back. Says she will give me the schedule she promised me. I didn’t respond. I just hung up and blocked the number.
