Long. I work at moes south wets grill in Virginia. The minimum wage here is 11 dollars an hour, and goes up a dollar every year until it hits 15. Anyway, I was working and the store managers son who I'm cool with walks up and tells me he just found out we still make 10 dollars an hour.
I instantly walked to the office and asked if we are making 10. Shift manager says yes and that the tip jar up front makes up for the difference. I told her I was the minimum wage plus the tips or I would be not showing up tomorrow. So, they try to pull the whole “servers make 3 dollars an hour plus tips” things. The tip jar up front usually has like 6 dollars at the end of the day and is split between EVERYONE WHO WORKED that day, usually 10 people, morning shift included.
I told them sorry, but it wasn't going to work on me and that I would still come tomorrow but that this was 2 weeks. So, she calls the store manager, and the store manager is pissed and hangs up on her. I ask her if I should stay, and she says I don't know, she's pissed. I live pay check to pay check, so I might need to stay at the very least 2 weeks. They called me and asked if I would come in tomorrow “for a meeting with the store manager and herself to talk”. I have a feeling they are just gonna fire me, but man. I just want to start a new job and leave, but my rent was due yesterday and I have to get paid. I can stand this anymore
