I'm a university student and I NEED to work full time +20 hours to sustain the school season during summer (I still work during school). I usually have no problem finding summer full-time seasonal work. Usually, start hunting in January and get an offer by may. I have been doing this since 17. This year has been particularly bad. 100s of application and door-to-door resume handouts. Not a single offer. I had plenty of interviews but none called back or rejected me. Some wanted me to leave school early to work for them. I was desperate but I found a cash job from some shady guy. It's $10/hour for 12 hours a day. The minimum wage in Ontario, Canada is $15.50. I get no protection and it is not stable. I am still looking for work but no one is hiring anymore. I am seriously thinking about dropping out altogether and getting into the military or working full time and taking an extra year off.
Where's the so-called labour shortage? Every god damn interview I see 20 people trying to get one job!
