I’ve worked shitty jobs like cleaning, retail and call centre, the latter of which inspired me to learn skills so I can work for myself, which by my late 20s I was able to do. I would really recommend it because you get to keep all the profit yourself and claim expenses against tax. If I don’t wanna do a particular job then I just say no. I am an illustrator as well as teaching drawing, writing articles about art etc. I make a full time wage at part time hours, I definitely could work more but my mental health is a bit tenuous so I opt for less money and less work. I totally get the feeling of hating and dreading your job but when you are self employed you never feel like this. Just thought I would share for anyone struggling with their current job that you CAN escape. I’m not from a wealthy family and have got there all by myself without financial aid.
