I don't know if my problem is related to this sub but I gotta vent out. I'm a teacher working for a reputed school in my town. Throughout my teaching career, I've never had any complain relating to my teaching. I believe I'm a good teacher, although not the best, but I give my 100% every single day.
So I was called to principal' s office and he told me that I need to buckle up and improve my teaching because one parent complained that her son was getting very less marks in my subject. I told my boss that maybe the problem is with that particular student and not me. I get it.. If 30 students fail to bring even an average score in my subject then that's my problem. But no matter how good you teach, there'll always be that one student who will not do well. Any teacher can attest to that.
Anyway.. My boss has the tendency to always please the parents, and side with them. No matter the circumstances, parents are his priority, then comes the students and lastly the teachers. Over the course of a year, so many teachers were terminated just because one or two parents complained against the teacher. Since those teachers were my colleagues, I can honestly say that they were all very good teachers but they were let go. The head of the school always places parents first, they will even bow down and kiss the parents feet if circumstances compels. I'm not exaggerating here. Such is the nature of the school I work in.
Oh BTW I was warned that if I do not do my job well then I'd be terminated. I felt completely attacked because I'm not the kind of person to take the furute of the children lightly. I do my best to educate them and go above and beyond to meet the needs of the school. I've been dropped off of many responsibilities after that complain. I feel like the values I brought in to the school was of nothing just because of a silly complain.
