Work in a team of 6, but 7 is probably our preferred staffing levels. We were told in January, that we would be returning to the office February in a hybrid model which would see us be in the office 4 days one week and 3 days the following week. There is absolutely no need for us to be in the office 3 or 4 days a week. We operated absolutely without issue over covid, everything got done and to a high standard.
So I decided to make a stand, February came and I just didn't go into the office. Logged in from home and continued working away. All our meetings happen over teams anyway so I missed very little. End of the first week, I'm expecting a meeting email. My manager sent out an email asking for everyone to fill out their preferred working from home days. She wanted to set up so we had 3 in the office 3 days and 3 in the office 4 days and switch over the following week so the office always looks busy. I ignore it and continue my silent protest.
Beginning of April we got a new start in, we are now up to 7 people our preferred staffing levels, I thought this would be their time to start causing problems. All of February and March I did not go into the office once and my boss hadn't said a single word about it.
With the new start finally getting up to speed. I get an email close of business Friday literally 10 minutes before the end of the day. A teams meeting with my manager, head of HR and a lower level HR person Monday at 10am. I'm definitely getting fired or told to return or be fired.
With nothing lined up I spent about 5 hours since I finished work Friday looking and applying for remote jobs. The selection is bare. I actually hate this love of the office, get to fuck with that shit.
Wish me luck for Monday, I might be unemployed soon. Any advice on how to handle it if anyone has any would be ideal.
