So I interviewed for a correctional officer position within my local county sheriff’s department and it was absolutely awful. For reference I’m currently employed in retail making $15+ hr and recently finished my B.A. in criminal justice. They offered me .30 cents less per hour and upwards of 50+ hours per week. I would be paid less per hour and required to work more hours. That wasn’t the kicker for me though. The interviewers mentioned that if I ever made a mistake with an inmate they would “read the incident report and change the wording if it looks bad on you or the department”.
I’ve never been more eager to get out of a building before.
