I work overnight from 9pm to 9am. I am supposed to be paid a shift differential of $3 per hour. I noticed recently that my paycheck is short. I looked and they have only been paying the shift differential for about half of the shifts I work. When I contacted payroll, they said it is because some days I only worked 11.88 hours (for example) instead of 12 hours. So from 8:58pm to 8:46am.
Is this how other companies handle their shift differential?
I should note that prior to this year, I have not had the wage unpaid even if I didn't clock out after the 12 hour mark.
