How bad does it look for me to be absent on the day of a specific training?

So I got an email from another manager pretty much appointing me and another person to track their professional learning courses. I have been in this job for almost a year and have never done that. I do not report to this manager, I report to an assistant director who is over her. From my short time being here, I noticed that she “takes on” several tasks and gets a promotion or title change and then once this happens she starts distributing the tasks to other people all the while she keeps the promotion. I asked her several questions about the task she assigned me and then I inquired with my direct supervisor and he was like you can attend the training and I guess bring any information to us if applicable. The thing is that this sh*t is a waste of my time and resources. I really don't care…

The thing is that this sh*t is a waste of my time and resources. I really don't care about tracking some professional development. After I got “voluntold”, by this bitch, I decided to make an appointment with the doctor so I can be out of the office for this scheduled training. How bad do you think this will make me look? I admit I have a lot of problem with authority, but even more so when a person basically takes more tasks on to get paid extra and once they secure the new title and pay they divy the tasks up to their underlings. I even have a larger problem when my boss who is a director does nothing about this. Any thoughts.
