My wife is an Emergency physician, she took her first sick day after six years in her current role and was chastised by her boss and then threatened with an HR meeting.
Add to this two years of dealing with a pandemic and a chronically understaffed ER. It is no surprise that nearly everyone in her department is burned out and many are planning on quitting.
Going to work when you're sick and possibly contagious is generally a bad idea. Doing that when you're a doctor and will be interacting with elderly and immune-compromised people is insane.
WTF is wrong with hospital administration in the US.
