The way money works today largely contributes to the state our world is in. The system forces economic growth (https://doi.org/10.3390/jrfm14070335) and the fact that there is no limit to the amount of money one has combined with the fact that you can make money with money once you have enough results in unfair inequality (yes, there is also fair inequality). Add to that that having lots of money leads to power and power leads to money and we end up with quite a toxic mix.
