Hello! I work at a grocery store in the meat/seafood department. And I'm the only full time person that closes at night, which means the store relies heavily on me nearly every night. I've closed by myself so many times even though it's a full teams job. I've put in so much for the company.
Last week, I had to walk miles to work. My car was broke down and the bus in my area is very unreliable. So I walked. And I seriously got injured on that walk. My foot was bleeding really badly. Even though I made it to work on time it was all for nothing because I was too hurt to make it through the day.
I had a moment of clarity and was like “Why am I hurting myself for 15/hr?” I have no food at home right now, I had to steal menstral products, and I have to pretend that everything's ok. If I'm going to be sacrificing so much, then I want it to be worth while at the very least. How do I negotiate for a raise? I want at least 20/hr because that'll cover my necessities. But I don't know if that's even possible.
