For context, I work 20 hrs a week min wage as the only maintenance employee at my location of a nationwide chain. I am often approximately $200 short for food money each pay cycle after rent payments, and I have consistently had to beg for money on twitter or from my parents (who I have a rocky relationship with atm) every two weeks and I'm getting sick of it.
I want to at the very least ask for more hours and at least $15 an hour, because I really do like this job and I don't want to have to leave it for w*lmart again. (For context I'm trans and got sidelong threats at work constantly there, meanwhile people here are incredibly respectful and I don't feel abysmal dread every day I have to work.)
Is there something I can do to keep this job and still make enough just to get by?
