How do I navigate being passed up in a promotion because “I’m already so competent in my position,” and “We gave it to ‘X’ because it’s a great opportunity for them to grow”?

As the title states. It has been made clear to me that I am celebrated in my role for working quickly and efficiently, and one of the top performers in the store. It has also been conveyed to me that I am a top candidate for a middle management promotion. However, after two promotion opportunities have been given to others candidates, it has been explained to me that I perform so well in my current position, and they would rather give the promotion to someone else who can use it to make or break, or to “grow”.
