I’m sorry if this isn’t the best place for this – I just love this sub. So I’m a contracted employee assigned to a very large company. As part of my duties I had to get quotes from vendors for a service. One of them came in about 7x higher than than the others on a per job basis. 5 figure difference.
The work being done gets published. I can see two companies using the expensive vendor. I was a contractor with one for several years and have a great relationship with them. I’ve always been a wage earner and have zero desire to manage other people. I’ve debated starting my own company and just contracting directly but for this one thing they seem to prefer PE stamps (though it isn’t required).
So my question is what should I do with this knowledge?
Hook up my current vendor for a finder’s fee?
Nothing?
Start a company and offer an engineer most of the money to do the things?
