How do we actually organize a general strike?

First question, most obvious: how much time do we need to get the information out there? From there, how do we get the word out? How do we convince people to join us? I was thinking a bit of vandalism. Maybe someone in here with printing and shipping resources could make stickers advertising it and we could all purchase them so that person isn’t getting exploited for the cause and put them everywhere, especially low-paying, Union-busting jobs like Walmart and gas stations. I think the biggest thing we fail at is distribution of resources. We know there are people who cannot afford to take even one day off work and still have a roof over their head. Hell, there are entirely too many of us in here working multiple jobs and having to choose between rent and food. Those people cannot afford to take off work for a strike unless…

Those people cannot afford to take off work for a strike unless we pool other resources for them.

You can’t sit there and expect a diabetic person that relies on their job for insurance to strike with us. You’re literally expecting them to risk a preventable death for the cause. I have a kid and a disabled wife. There’s no way I’m doing anything that threatens what little stability I’ve earned for them. You want better working conditions? Don’t act like the oligarchs and expect the most vulnerable to do your dirty work. At least when they exploit people, they get something out of it. You’re betraying your own class and your own future working conditions, and for what? The system is designed to make sure you don’t get to keep what little savings you’ve scrounged for yourself. Do you want to lose it to one unplanned emergency? Or do you want to invest it in a future where everyone isn’t suffering?

And I don’t give a fuck who you are. I’m a worker. You’re a worker. Beyond a quality of life wage being the standard, nothing else matters yet. You wanna fight me on my ability to exist once we accomplish that? Let’s go. We’ll have a more productive fight when we’re not fucking starving, overworked, and over-stressed.

So, what else do we need to think about? Timing, resources, what else is there that I’m missing? We’ll have to break this into smaller grassroots drives, but thats not really a bad thing.

If you’re in college, use your university-sanctioned school groups to put flyers out there. They might put a stop to it down the road, but they can’t shut it down at first without looking hypocritical af. How do you have entire classes on Steinbeck but won’t let a group use your copier to promote the same shit he did?

I can’t live with this constant existential dread. I can’t have people tell me with a straight face that my kid is lucky because his generation is small and there will be more jobs for him. There was a pandemic, people died. Wtf? I can’t look at my local mommy group and see nothing but mothers begging for formula because they can’t afford to buy it and can’t even afford the gas to go steal it. This is not sustainable and if we don’t do something, it’s only going to get harder to do something later.
