Maybe this isn't the best place to post this, maybe it is. Idk, I'm desperate/depressed/discouraged/etc…
I've applied to somewhere nearing 200 jobs this year alone. Barely get calls or emails back. All over the united states. I have been able to in this time though, narrow down where I want to live and that's in Portland Maine. However going through indeed gives me about 8 jobs in my field.
I was able to reach out to someone who is a social media manager for a company in that city and although they weren't hiring, they suggested I research companies and find one I like and reach out to them specifically.
My question therefore is… How do you do this? Do you just zoom in on a map of the businesses? Find a list of companies? I'm a little stuck here and curious how others have been able to find jobs that wasn't a job board. Obviously the company site, but what if I don't know about the company?
Again, sorry if this doesn't belong here, just trying my luck and asking.
Also my field of study is film and photography (take that as you will, just figured someone would ask)
