How does one muster the courage to quit their career for something they are passionate about with significantly less pay/possibility of no pay?

I am going through a career-existential crisis. My job is fine, the people are great. But there is a hole in my heart. I’m not fulfilled at all in what I do. I have been SO money driven, started working when I was 15 and haven’t stopped getting promoted/grinding for better opportunities since. I’m in a steady career, OK pay for 23, full benefits, but I dream of leaving it all to open a business. The 9-5, stuck in front of a monitor all day is sucking the life from me. But stability is my M-O and I am currently the breadwinner of the household, no kids and with a mortgage. Anyone have any stories or thoughts on this?
