Just curious, as I read through a lot of these posts, it seems like a lot of folks are struggling financially. I'm respectfully curious, how does everyone spend their money? How does everyone make their money? I've got a regular job…m-f 9-5… Nothing special… Nothing overly difficult. I had my own small business and was doing well (made enough to do what I wanted, gave me the freedom to do what I wanted) but shut it down almost 2 years ago due to Covid and went out and got a regular job. It's easy; pay is decent. Not too flashy but somewhere in the middle-middle class.
My wife doesn't work…she doesn't need to. I don't really care if she does or not. We're expecting a baby this summer.
We bought a duplex last summer, we live on one side, rent the other. I find that we don't really NEED a lot. I'm not overly frugal, just conscience of our spending. So, in that, we're able to save and still have our needs met. We both have nice phones, high-speed internet, etc. We still get out on dates on occasion (budget friendly).
As I read a lot of these threads, however, I'm seeing so many people unhappy with their work…and I think, why keep doing it? The obvious answer, of course, is..”for the money.” But are you spending it wisely? Or have many people created traps for themselves that don't allow for a different job…maybe a much more fulfilling or flexible job…but at a lower price? I'm just curious and would appreciate different perspectives on this.
