How to ask for a bonus

A colleague just went on maternity, it was decided that all of her work responsibilities would go to me (in addition to my own). She has a higher job title than I do. I plan on explaining how many extra hours I am having to work (working until 9:30 most nights, and 4-5 hours Saturday and Sunday each). I am on salary so I plan on asking if there is an opportunity for extra compensation due to the extra time. If not, I plan to mention that maybe I misunderstood the expectations and perhaps I am not meant to get everything done as I usually would or if those hours are expected for the entire 6 weeks. Tbh, even working that much I am not able to get everything done, that is the bare minimum to not get people to escalate up the chain, I am just not willing to work more than that without knowing there can be a bonus.
