HR called a meeting with me today about my recent quarantine and returning to work. I was exposed on Sunday, February 20th, and called my place of works COVID hotline, and my place of work said i have to isolate until at least Thursday, February 24th, but firstly i need to be tested on Monday, February 21st. I would then have to be retested on Friday, February 25th.
Monday the 21st i was tested, and the results came back negative, i continued to isolate, and became symptomatic on Wednesday, February 23rd. My place of work called me on Thursday, and said get tested On Friday. At this point i was sick, and produced a positive COVID test on Friday, February 25th.
I told my place of works COVID hotline, and they said to file my positive result with the county. I later a call from the county, they interviewed me and prepared isolation orders. The isolation orders were issued on February 26th.
The isolation orders state that i was to isolate until March 4th 11:59PM. My place of work called me on Monday February 28th, and said the last day of COVID pay is Wednesday March 2nd, and i can report to work on March 3rd. I told them i was still symptomatic, and not feeling well. My place of work said to produce a doctors note, or send us the isolation orders in the form I received them, which was email.
I sent my isolation orders, and never received a reply, I thought i was all clear to continue isolating. HR called a meeting with me today, March 9th, and said why didnt i return to work on Thursday March 3rd. They also told me that they don't recognize the isolation order as a reasom to miss work.
I work for a hospital in NYS. I missed a total of 11 days. Am i in the wrong here.
