HR took ages to read my email and resignation email, want to count my notice from the day they read it

I’m a bit confused at what to do or if this is my fault I started a job a month ago at a retail store. This is a store in the UK, but the company is in the US. HR is also located only in the US. Hate it, want to quit. Since I’m in my probation period I only have one weeks notice. I have no email/phone number or anything to reach my manager. I started a job a month ago at a retail store. This is a store in the UK, but the company is in the US. HR is also located only in the US.

Hate it, want to quit. Since I’m in my probation period I only have one weeks notice.

I have no email/phone number or anything to reach my manager. I only have the general shop phone number, and the HR departments email.

Not being given a shift for the next 12 days, I was therefore not able to hand over my resignation to my manager, I sent it to HR via email. It has now been 13 days (aka, my notice period is over) since I sent the email. I didn’t show up to my shift yesterday, since I did resign. HR got back to me today saying it was my fault the resignation wasn’t made clear to the manager.

Is this my fault? I understand I probably should have found a way to deliver it in person, but I was not feeling the one hour journey there and the 8£ it would cost me for transport. I also find it very weird I don’t have a way to contact my manger directly
