Ever since I started to join reddit and the work / sales subs, I realised that my pay was shittier than I already thought. Sorry this is going to be a bit long but I need a place to vent.
Some background :
I (34F) work for a tech IoT company since 2020 as a KAM speaking multiple languages. I deal with our top client. I only have one, but they are spread across 56 countries. These past 2 years, I've been busting my ass to be successful with the targets. I hit them each time, the first year I went above and beyond and over performed. I also deal with tech projects related to my clients and oversee all their specific needs by coordinating the teams.
This over performance allowed for my whole team in Europe to reach the team target so that we can all get nice bonuses on top of our individual OTE. I cried when I discovered that I only got 5K bonus for my hard work. My colleagues got 15K to 35K bonuses.
The reasoning from our top boss for this was that I already had an individual over performance bonus (10K€), so to balance things out the over team members got more from the team bonus… Many colleagues were feeling awkward about this, some even apologised to me. HR even butted in to try and help me. But the Global VP (big boss) wouldn't hear any of it and told everyone that my job is the easiest since it's just a farming job to make our top client happy, and that I just sit there to collect orders rolling in.
Turns out he gave the big team bonuses to the newer Sales Directors (3 senior guys) to make them happy because our industry is super competitive and these guys can go to another big name company any time. Our big Boss already told me to my face in front of my EU director that hiring me was not his choice but he has to deal with me. Like… WTF? He's very sexist, and hired all his friends from his former company. He's infamous in the industry worldwide, people know his name and cringe. He is especially known to yell at anyone for 1 or 2 straight hours, with long rants that never end. It even has a name, you get “[Big boss'name]-ed”.
So on to why I'm writing here:
Recently, my client's industry finally got the downside of COVID (they were thriving during the peak of the pandemic). This year they lost 30% of market share, sold many of their entities worldwide, and told us that their best guess in terms of business with us would be cut in half.
Mr Big boss was not happy about this and started to call and harass me, started telling everyone he has meetings with internally that I suck at my job. He told me I am not good enough for this role (the past 2 years he said nothing when all went well). He ranted for 1H straight and told me in many ways what is wrong with the way I handle the client and how incompetent I am.
I get headhunted everyday so I'm not worried about finding something else, I just need to wait for the signature of a new home I bought with my BF to start getting out of this hellhole. Why do people feel the need to step on others like this? My other colleagues are all in the process to get hired somewhere else too, so we will leave at the same time. It's very hard to hire our profiles in the industry because it's a small world. It's been 8 months since they desperately try to find a Sales director for some our southern EU markets and north EU, but they can't find experienced people willing to leave the competition, and I heard some people wouldn't join upon hearing Big boss'name lol.
Thanks for reading 🙂
