I am so scared of getting a job

“Well, you’re going to have to do it anyway, so stop whining about it and get over it!” Yes, I understand that this is going to come across as whiny and entitled. But I am really dreading leaving college due to the fear of being stuck in a job that pays minimum wage and leaves me in a position where I can’t succeed in life. Yes, I understand that this is going to come across as whiny and entitled.

But I am really dreading leaving college due to the fear of being stuck in a job that pays minimum wage and leaves me in a position where I can’t succeed in life. I won’t have kids, I won’t be happy, I won’t get married. Yes, I know, save up money and be smart, but my fear is I won’t get paid enough to be able to do that because I’ll only spend it all on rent and other essential costs. And then what if I can’t afford rent and live in a cardboard box?

I fear being miserable: getting up every day, hating my life and going to bed to repeat the same experience. I fear listening to people say, “life is filled with so much joy, so travel as much as possible.” But then being stuck working all the time until I die one day and never get to enjoy the things I want to enjoy.

I feel like my life is ending, which it is in a way because I’m becoming an official adult and I have to go onto the conveyor belt of work.

So yeah, that’s my “entitled” rant of someone who is dreading the idea of getting a job.
