I finally finished my college degree and applied for my first decent paying career job. I have been working at a factory for nearly minimum wage for 4 years while in school. Its a family owned buisness and my boss is well aware that I have been working towards my degree for some time now. When I finished school, she congratulated me, told me that I am the best employee they have had and that I will be hard to let go.
The place I applied to called her to confirm my work history from the application. Today in the interview, the panel made me aware that she complained to them that I “take lots of time off” and “care about my personal life more than work”.
All the time I ever took off from the factory was for school. I immediatley called my close friend and supervisor from te factory after the interview; he said she is “known to do that” to prevent other places from “stealing” her workers.
Im baffled. This bitch really thinks she can pull strings behind the scenes and prevent me from ever starting my career and keep me at her minimum wage factory forever. I don't know if I got the new job yet but I will not be returning to the factory
