So I went to the store with my mom, there was only 1 cashier and a huge line, as we were leaving the guy behind us and the cashier started talking about how all the cashiers had called off and she was the only one there and it was hard for her, the guy and her started a typical no one wants to work chat. My mom turned to me and started talking about how it was the same at her work, how all the busers and other ppl like them would call out from work , I just said “are they being paid a living wage”, since I knew the answer was no (busers and other restaurant workers and grocery store workers…pretty obvious) I certainly wouldn't stick an arm and a leg out let alone apply for one of those jobs. She ended up saying everyone just has a terrible work ethic today and used them always being on their phones as the example, and she doesn't even bring her phone to work… I get so infuriated by the work culture standards of needing to be doing something every second. Its perfectly acceptable to check your phone every once in a while and especially use it when you're not busy. Wtf else should they do sit there and try to act productive?
While we were arguing about it at her car she called over the guy who had been behind us and started asking his opinion on if phones should be allowed at work, and while I tried to be calm at first and argue it's important for emergencies, that people aren't busy 24/7 at work, etc. I was just so frustrated, I freaked out and yelled something about it being a right wing boomer take and got in the car and just kinda raged… I feel so embarrassed after and I know I could've actually made good arguments but now to that guy just look like a triggered lib :/
