So yesterday I went to Dollar Tree to purchase something and as I was approaching the Cashier, there was some old man and old woman talking about having all of the time in the world to check-out products because they were retired and I heard some youngster who was working there explain how he was retired, jokingly.
Why is this something to laugh at? Please forgive me if I am being over-dramatic, but you essentially wasted about 40 years of your live working for people who don't care about you, living paycheck to paycheck and may regret not following your life passions. It kind of saddens me how a majority of society are okay with this way of living and don't question it at all. But maybe they are putting on a mask and actually feeling like shit at home, but this just makes it worse.
I can't help but feel bad for people in some ways. There were a few really old people who I've seen working months ago and it just feels weird to me so much. I even went to Stater Bros. and caught some experienced Cashier harassing a new guy for “taking too long” to get trash bags or something and since he was obviously nervous and having trouble with opening up the bags, they fuck with him and make fun of him asking him “Do you know how to even open up bags?”
It just bothers me how so many people are okay functioning in this system with harassment, low pay, and for some reason, happiness during retirement, realizing that you have to do everything you ever wanted as a cranky old person. I hope Millienials and Gen Zs come up with a way to fix this situation because right now, the future isn't looking bright for me or anybody else and it is upsetting as a result.
