I did not ask anyone, I didn’t fill out the appropriate form, I didn’t speak to my manager. I just did it.
Context: There’s an unused corner office in our head office that sits behind our customer support team. It was originally for the Support Lead, but due to the lighting in said office, and the window facing north, they relocated to the opposite side of the office for some sunshine.
So it sat empty and undesired. So today I started emptying it of boxes, spare power cords and “how to be a better manager” books. Ghettoed an IT docking setup with 3 screens from spares and other unused desks, and put an uplighter into the dark corner to brighten the place up. Next up it I’ll see about getting a couple of chairs in here for that “1-2-1’s” look.
Demanded to see life’s manager and straightened some stuff out. No more cubicle with 6ft high jet-black dividers for me.
